Elephant Ears for Breakfast?

This morning I had elephant ears for breakfast! No, not the delicious fried dough sprinkled with powdered sugar, but a plastic elephant ear. If I had fried dough I would get very sick.

Sippy Cup

Since I have been trying to feed myself with my bottles, Mommy thought I should try a sippy cup, just for play. She first put water in it so if I spilled I wouldn't be sticky, but I drank half an ounce! Babies aren't really suppose to drink water, so Mommy put in milk instead, but I didn't drink any of it.

Wrong end.Got it.

Almost...Success!

Dresses

Grandpa Dan, or Grandpa Ding Dong as he calls himself, wanted pictures of me in some heirloom christening dresses, so I obliged. I look quite cute.

This dress was made by Grandma Susan's mom, Marion Steindorf, for Daddy. The lace is from someone else's dress, but I don't know whose. It is a very well-made dress.
Another picture in Daddy's christening dress. I am watching Mommy make funny faces.
Daddy doesn't remember whose christening dress this was, but it is at least a great great someone. It is too small for me, but I humored Grandpa. The rocking horse was Grandma Susan's when she was a little girl.

Down the Shore

Today Mommy, Daddy and I went "down the shore" to Island Beach State Park. We had a pleasant time and will probably be returning within a few weeks.

Sunblock on. Umbrella up. Ready for action.

I hope the ladies dig me in this hat.

Mommy and me walking on the beach.

Daddy! This water is 30 degrees colder than my bath water!

The ocean air sure whets one's appetite.

Hands taste better on the beach than at home. It must be the dusting of sand on them.

Some things I saw - shells, a seagull flying, and a segull on the beach in front of a very tan man.

One last look before we go back home.

Ferberization Friday

Ferberization Friday was yesterday, but nothing out of the ordinary happened. Oh well.

This is how I spend the majority of my days.

Rice Cereal

This morning was my first, doctor-sanctioned, rice cereal breakfast. I really enjoyed it, I just wish Mommy was a little more careful when putting the food in my mouth.

Stats

My weight and height are a little disproportionate again. Mommy says I am just bulking-up for another growth spurt, but the doctor says I eat too often, and I shouldn't eat when I wake at night. Mommy is talking about Ferberization Friday. I wonder what that means. It sure sounds exciting!

Three of my shots are now combined in one needle, so I had 2 shots instead of 4. I only whined for 30 seconds. I am hard core, just like Mommy.

MILESTONE - Falling to Sleep on My Own

This morning at 4:30 am, after Mommy had fed me and rocked me twice, I woke-up. However, Mommy didn't come into my room, so I literally sang myself to sleep. What a big boy am I! I hope Mommy doesn't expect me to do this all the time.

Singing Myself to Sleep

I'll do anything to keep Daddy from whistling at me!

******WARNING******
I am too precious! Mommy gets all choked-up.

My First New York Outing

Today Mommy and Daddy took me to the Bronx to meet Eva, Grandma Susan's college roommate and best friend. Eva flew from Germany to see her son and grandson. We spent the majority of the day at Wave Hill, a beautiful public garden. I was interested in everything. There were so many noises and birds and flowers. Eva said when I am older she will buy a pair of lederhosen for me. That will be perfect for Oktoberfest in Munich!

Here is Eva holding me during lunch at Wave Hill. I didn't look at the camera all day - I was too busy watching everything else.

Here is Eva feeding Alimentum (tapioca-based baby formula) to me. My regular milk was accidentally left at home, and when Mommy tried to feed me "naturally," I just screamed. I thought I was suffocating! It took me a while to get used to the formula, but after a few tries I guzzled it down like I do my regular milk.

Nakie Tummy Time

I know the picture is a little grainy, but my best facial expressions occur when Mommy doesn't use the flash on the camera. Look how high I can hold my head and shoulders! Notice also the mesh bumper pad around my crib. It keeps my arms and legs inside the crib, but the mesh allows me to breathe if I stick my face on it. Mommy and Daddy are always thinking of me.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

I am now a master of rolling to my right from back to front. Other babies usually don't do this until they are 5 or 6 months old, and often they roll from their tummies to their backs first. Maybe Mommy and Daddy didn't give me enough tummy time, but now I can have tummy time whenever I want.
My rolling ability has lead to some bedtime changes for me. I have to sleep in my crib, not Boppy Lounger. Also, I can't have my arms swaddled because I need to be able to lift my head if I roll onto my tummy. Since my arms aren't swaddled, I suck my fingers instead of passie to go to sleep, which is fine except it leads eye injuries.
I can't roll from my tummy onto my back yet, so I need assistance righting myself. Fortunately, Mommy is on-call day and night. And believe me, I call her.

A good, fast roll.

Rolling on cue. (It is tough to roll with your hand in your mouth).

A rolling-over victory drool.

MILESTONE - Rolling Over

I rolled-over! Grandma Dene had been helping me with this while Mommy and Daddy were in Atlanta, but I waited for them to get home for the unveiling of my trick. Daddy saw me first.

A front to back roll.

Happy Hour

Daddy teaching me to drink beer - open wide!
Daddy forgot I was the designated driver - so we had to walk home. Daddy bought some beer on the way home so we won't be in this predicament again. I carried the beer in the bottom of my stroller.
I fell asleep on the way home. It is a good thing I didn't drive.

Mini Whoozit

I have a toy called Whoozit, but it is too big for my to play with. How wonderful it is that Mommy found Mini Whoozit. As you can see, I really like Mini Whoozit.

Happy Independence Day

Daddy took care of me during the 4th of July holiday weekend while Mommy slept. Look how happy I am with Daddy!
Um, maybe I am not so happy here.

Taming of the Bumblebee

Do you remember when the bumblebee attacked me? Well, I'm not sure how the bumblebee wound-up in my hand, but I am holding it! That bee will never attack me again.

TV

Since Daddy is away in London, and Mommy usually has a fit about me watching TV, Uncle Dick was kind enough to teach me how to channel surf.

Looking for the right channel.

Falling asleep after complaining there is nothing to watch, but refusing to say I am tired and go to bed.

My Cousins

I have two cousins, Jackson and Caleb. We did a lot of bonding on Sunday.

Our first group photo.

Chatter in a Box

After Auntie Jessie collected Mommy and me from the airport, we had lunch at Chatterbox Pub. The majority of the time I was either lying down on the seat of the booth or on the table, with Auntie Jessie and Mommy oogling over me. As you can see, I didn't mind.

Iowa

Today I took my second trip to the Philadelphia Airport, and this time I got out of the car and didn't get back in. Mommy and I took a plane to Minnesota, then Auntie Jessie drove us to Iowa. It was a long day, but of course I was a good boy. In fact, I received many compliments on the plane because I was such a good boy, which is a nice way of thanking me for not screaming.

I am having a good time in Iowa. I met Grandpa Bill, Auntie Jessie, cousins Jackson and Caleb, Great Aunt Renee and Great Uncle Dick. And of course it was nice to see Grandma Dene again, though I am not sure if I remember her.

Stats

Here are the stats as of June 18, with prior information for comparison. My height and head circumference have caught-up to my weight. Mommy and Daddy are quite pleased.

Weight: 14 pounds, 3 ounces - 97 percentile
Height: 24 1/4 inches - 95 percentile
Head circumference: 16 1/2 inches - 95 percentile

Extra tidbit: The doctor said I am quite vocal - something Grandma Dene has said right from the beginning.

May 19, 2008

Weight: 12 pounds, 8 ounces - 95 percentile
Height: 22 1/4 inches - 75 percentile
Head circumference: 15 1/4 inches - 75 percentile

April 10, 2008 - my birthday (Daddy's too!)

Weight: 10 pounds, 1 ounce
Height: 21 inches
Head circumference: 15 inches

The nurse gave me four shots today and I screamed. Mommy was able to calm me down a little, but Daddy was able to get me to sleep before leaving the doctor's office. I love my daddy.

Bless Me!

I don't know why Mommy thinks anyone wants to see a video of me sneezing, but here it is for your viewing pleasure. My idea for the video was for you to watch me "track" and smile at my Winnie the Pooh and Friends mobile while lounging on my custom lounger, made by my wonderful Daddy.

My left eye is red not from a fight, but because I like to stick my fingers in my eyes. It is a habit I hope to break soon.

Are You Talkin' to Me?

Mommy thought I would look like Hugh Hefner in this robe, but I think I look like a boxer. Don't mess with me, or I'll give you the ol' one-two.

Boppy Lounger update

I just don't sleep well without my Boppy Lounger, so Mommy has decided I can still fit in it for a little while, at least until Daddy is finished making a custom lounger for me! Hurray!

C is for Cameron

My friend Cookie Monster and I like to spend our late mornings looking at the ceiling fan in Mommy's room.

Cookie and I are hamming it up for the camera.

Giving Cookie bunny ears. (Look how long I am)!

Big eyes! I told Mommy I was trying to be like Cookie, but she knew it was nap time for me. Drats.

I Want my Boppy Lounger!

Mommy took away my Boppy Lounger today - and I am NOT happy about it. It is so hard for me to sleep without it because of my gassy tummy, but she claims I am too tall. This afternoon I tried sleeping on my side, but that didn't work. Then I tried sleeping in my bassinette with my head elevated, but that didn't work either. This evening Daddy swaddled me and put me in the Graco sweetpeace Soothing Center. I was finally able to sleep for a while without gassy tummy, but I can't sleep in the sweetpeace during the night. Oh, how I long for a longer Boppy Lounger.

When You're Smiling...

Go Suck a Flower

Standard passie holders don't work with Soothies, one of my favorite things. Fortunately, Daddy found this special Soothie holder for me. Unfortunately, I left it in Canada. However, Grandpa D found it and wears it on his shirt and occasionally sucks it. Better to suck a flower than cigarettes - and cheaper, too!

Chillin' with my Homeboyz

A Present for Grandpa D

I came back from Canada on Tuesday, but not before giving Grandpa D a goodbye present.
